Handspun and Handknit Alpaca Hat
This is a Peruvian style hat that was hand knit from 100 % alpaca yarn. The black yarn was hand spun from the fleece of my alpaca, Beowulf and the dyed pink yarn came from a white fleece from Cream puff. I made up this pattern myself as I went along and the hat won best hand spun article at Maryland State Fair as well as a 1st at the Great Frederick Fair.
My son wore this hat for several years and loved the Native Peruvian style. It wore like iron and was very, very warm. So much for alpaca not keeping its shape. Hah!
