Alpaca Mount Airy Cassandra
Mount Airy Cassandra was born on 6/20/2001. She is a white female huacaya with black eyeliner and a black muzzle. She was up and nursing within 1 and 1/2 hour of her birth. That's the type of crias we love around here! She is the daughter of Lanark's Latte a maroon / rose gray and Wood's Edge Macgyver, a true black.
Anastasia, was born in October, 2003. She won 2 blue ribbons in her first alpaca show. The judge remarked on the fineness of her fleece. Cassandra's second cria, Reinette, was born in October, 2004. Both of these girls are adorable with nice, straight bodies, beautiful fleeces and plenty of personality. While Cassandra herself appeared white, she has given birth to a rose gray, a medium fawn and a black, all daughters!

Cassandra is now owned by our friend Ben Clarke at Wishful Thinking Farm in Dameron Maryland. She lives near the beach at a beautiful, large farm and Ben is a great guy who takes good care of our girls, Cassandra and her 1/2 sister, Cher.
Mount Airy Cassandra and her daughter AuroraWe bred Casssandra to our lovely, rose gray herdsire, Nickleby in 2005 and she had a very pretty black daughter for her new owner, Ben in 2006. That little one (below) was named Aurora and she appears in our alpaca care DVD as a new-born cria getting weighed with a cria scale. Cassandra, herself, also appears in the DVD, getting bred to Aurora's sire, Nickleby. That black gene from Cassy's father, McGyver just needed a little reinforcing from a gray male to produce black once again.
