Hand spun, hand knit alpaca hat
My very first handspun alpaca hat is shown below at left.
It was made completely by hand, combed,
spun, washed and knitted in natural colors from 3 different animals
Latte, Polo and Lindy). The pattern used was very a very simple one. This hat is very warm!
Basically, this alpaca hat is knit in the round for about 5 inches and then decreased 1 stitch per every 6 and then knit around, then 1 stitch per every 5, then knit around, then 1 stitch for every 4, etc. These alpaca hats are super popular with younger people and anyone who has to be outdoors in chilly weather for sports, farm stuff or camping They are far less itchy against the head than most wool hats and the alpaca fiber is warmer by weight..
